So satisfying! The pizza bread itself is already so chewy and tasty. The calarami is so fresh, flavourful & unstoppable. The Tiramisu is a melt-in-your-mouth delight. We savoured each item with "oooos" and "muacks". 5 stars for the lovely experience!

Good food and nice atmosphere. We ordered a pizza and a rugola salad with red wine. All were fabulous. Also had limoncello sorbetto for desert which was delicious and a nice palate cleanser after dinner. Highly recommended.

Nice place in the city!! Food was bomb and service was peak. The wood fired aspect and plentiful servings act as a nice diner to hold a special occasion

Best Italian in Surry Hills by a million miles. Get the Pruvulo (yes it’s melted cheese) and the Pane Al Forno to dip then the Amatriciana then the Pepperoni Pizza. I promise you will have the best time. Service is amazing too. This place is one of Sydney’s best kept secrets

We LOVE this place! We just walked in one evening for a pizza and immediately got caught up chatting about food, wine (and music) with the crew, who were so friendly and honestly treat you like you’re a visiting family member. We’ve been back a few times now, slowly working our way through the menu. The food is always great! Personal favorites are the Beef Ragu Pasta and Mussels—or just let the team choose for you like we did. The food, the vibe, the hospitality (and the music)—you can tell there’s a deep passion for food and people that comes through in everything they do. We were honestly still thinking about how warm the experience was a week later. In our chats with the team, we discovered they’re massively into food and have a keen ear for Italian disco producers (more on that later). We met Chef Gianni, who shared his amazing journey as a 4th-generation chef—his grandfather was making pizza on the streets of Napoli. He moved to Sydney over 20 years ago, helping grow iconic spots like Pizza e Birra and Frankies Pizza by the Slice before launching his own incredible restaurant, Don Giovanni Pizza Bar. He and his staff gave us a few personal recommendations, including: Pane al Forno, puffy oven-fired bread; Olive Verdi, marinated Sicilian green olives; Mozzarella in Carrozza, fried Neapolitan buffalo mozzarella that is ridiculously good; Burrata with roast capsicum and paprika purée, crispy basil, and smoked almonds; Guazzetto di Cozze, fresh mussels in the chef’s special tomato broth; and Paccheri Napoletani, white beef ragù with pecorino and white wine sauce that is so rich in flavor. This spot is a short stroll from Crown Street, Central, and some of our favourite pocket bars in Surry Hills like Bar Copains, Jazz Sushi, Rover, Poly, Tokyo Bird, and the Ace Hotel. If you’re in the area and craving proper Italian food that tastes like Napoli, Don Giovanni Pizza Bar is an absolute must. Special mention to the staff, who, as well as being passionate about great Italian food and wine, are also incredibly knowledgeable about Italian disco producers. It was lovely to hear thoughtful dinner disco selections, including Donna Summer, Giorgio Moroder, Cerone, and Gino Soccio.

Absolutely fantastic. Quite simply, the best pizza I've had in Australia. Went for the Capriciossa, but also excellent reviews from other pizza eaters at the table, and also from the Ragu Bianco eater. Great atmosphere, great service, even better food. Unpretentious, but just purely brilliant food. Bravo! From four poms who have travelled a lot in Italy - bravissimo!

This was a restaurant I’d been wanting to try for a long time, and I finally went this week! I had the special Gamberi pasta and it was spot on. The pizza was also beautiful ( I just had a bite from my partner ) The atmosphere is lovely and its a true Italian cuisine. I’ll definitely go back to try more from the menu.
